As part of our work with Boards of nonprofits around the world, we have noticed a marked increase in the number of Directors and executives using iPads in facilitating the work of the Board. There has been an explosion in the past few months in the use of these iPads, and so we conducted a survey of Directors, Chairs and Executives of nonprofit organizations to establish what was happening. 

We asked a series of questions via survey of participants in our Masterclasses for nonprofit Boards and executives, and received an overwhelming response. 

The questions asked were:

1.    Are you currently using an iPad as part of your Board work?

2.    If you are using an iPad, what are the key hints you have for those considering using it.

3.    What “Do’s” do you have?

4.    What “Don’ts” do you have?

5.    What apps do you find useful?

6.    How has this improved your Board work during and between meetings?

7.    Any words of advice to those using or contemplating using?

The responses to these questions are detailed in this report, together with some commentary from the author.
